So, if you know me, you know I LOVE frogs. I have thousands of them. All different types from stuffed animals to jewelry to even taxidermy frogs (I did not have this done to them). Well, my sister-in-law, Angela, is the same when it comes to pigs. So, this handcrafted just because card – hogs and kisses is for her! My mother-in-law asked me to make her a card to send, just because! I, of course was happy to do so. I love making cards, especially when they are for someone special from someone special and are personalized to that person. Since we are still in February I couldn’t help but add a little Valentine’s Day in there.
First, I looked at the cute pig images I have on my Cricut Design Space account. There are so many sweet images! Honestly, if you haven’t tried a Cricut, you really must! It is my go to tool when creating not only paper crafts, but home decor and re-purposed wood signs. You can cut so many different types of materials including paper, vinyl, chipboard, faux leather, etc. I decided on this cute little guy! There are four layers to this image (3 different pinks and a brown). Next, I duplicated the image and mirror imaged it so I could have twice the cuteness!
Then, I found a sweet sentiment “Hogs and Kisses” for Valentine’s Day. Next, I picked a pair of kissy lips because I had the hogs, so I just needed to add the kisses. Finally, I added a circle with a scalloped circle border.
The card base is a white square blank measuring 5 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. The corners were rounded on the right edge to better match the circle mats. I glued all of the layers together with a glue stick and placed them on the card. I am so happy with the final result and I hope Angela loves this cute little card!
I was inspired by the following challenges when making this card. Please take a moment to check out these wonderful blogs. They have such awesome challenges and the design teams rock!
Challenge #113 – Dies and/or Punches from the In the Pink blog. I used three different pinks on this card. The layers were all cut with my Cricut Die Cutting machine and the corners were rounded with a corner punch.
Challenge #110 – Use Your Favorite Things from the Crafty Gals Corner blog. For this card I used my all time favorite thing, my Cricut Explore. I also used white shimmer paper for the circle, another one of my favorite things!
Challenge #88 – Color Challenge from Kitty Bee Designs blog. I tried to get as close to the pinks in this challenge as possible when selecting my card stocks. I only used the last three colors within the challenge. Color challenges are so much fun!
