Red Jasper Pendant Wrapped in Copper Wire
Today I decided to play around with different wire types. I used both round and square copper wire to wrap this great red jasper pendant. Twisting the square wire added a bit of texture.

I remember the first time I tried to twist wire. I bought a hand drill that can hold many gauges of wire. The wire was in the vise and I had a firm grip on my pliers; however, the wire just kept spinning in the hand drill, no matter how hard I tightened it. Then it dawned on me: I was using round wire! Once I tried square wire, it worked like a charm!
This is a new wire weave for me. The weave is rather simple, but so pleasing! The tight weave surrounds the stone perfectly creating a very secure setting.

The difference in color when comparing natural daylight to artificial lamps is insane! I always warn my clients that colors may appear different depending on lighting and monitor settings; however, I can’t believe the difference background and angle can make. For instance, the first image in this post is using nothing but the sun coming through the window on a wooden table. While the second image is taken in the same room but turned away from the window with a dark background.

Natural light gives the most true to color result! Copper is such a beautiful metal. I just have to keep playing around with lighting, angle and background until I get it right!
