Handcrafted Special Interest Card - Perfect Me

Brown Sugar Challenge #246 – Design team Inspiration – Perfect Me

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s time for another fun challenge over at Brown Sugar Challenges.  This week our theme is Use 2 Patterned Papers and 2 Buttons and our awesome sponsor is MelonHeadz Illustrating.  Make sure you check out their great shop full of awesome image bundles.  Don’t forget to come play along in our challenge for your chance to win a bundle of your choice!  I made a beautiful step side card with a few of the great images from our sponsor.  The title of this card is Perfect Me.

The Image

This week, I chose a great bundle provided by our sponsor called Differently Abled clip art – Kidlettes.  I just love these wonderful images!  This bundle is full of sweet images of kids.  Persons with disabilities hold a special place in my heart.  I wanted to use all of the images, but this time I made them too big!  Two of the images would fit on this card along with the awesome sentiment that also came in the bundle.  The images are colored with Spectrum Noir markers.  I love how they turned out!

Fun Fold

I decided to use a step side fold for this card because I figured I could use a lot of the images.  However, as I mentioned before, I made them too big this time.  I think a group of the images would make a great card or banner!  The closed card measures 6 1/4″ x 6″.  When open the card has a beautiful step side on the right.  I just love the extra dimension this fold gives the card!

The Sentiment

The sentiment is so awesome that I decided to make it the main panel of the card.  I just love this strong message, not only for differently abled persons, but for everyone.

The Finishing Touches

I used a beautiful patterned paper from my stash with small flowers to mat the sentiment and the young girl image panels.  Then, I cheated on our theme a little by using a patterned ribbon for my second “patterned paper”.  This polka dot ribbon just goes so well with the rest of the card.  I placed it on the front bottom panel and the third panel of the step.  In addition, I placed the ribbon below the second panel on the step.

Then, I used a small piece of scrap burlap ribbon to make a bow.  I finished the bow off with a wooden button and some hemp cord.  Finally, I added two flowers from my stash to the sentiment and third panel.

Special Message

I made this card for the place I used to work, Witco, Inc.  Witco is a not-for-profit agency that offers vocational and life skill training and opportunities for persons with disabilities.  Witco’s intent is to spread the belief that “all life has value”.  Please take a moment to visit their web site and stop by for some of their famous popcorn!  I love how the card came together and I can’t wait to send it to my wonderful friends at Witco, Inc.

Don’t forget to stop by our challenge and play along for prizes and fun times!
